India skipper Rohit Sharma continued with his six-hitting spree in the third and final Twenty20 international against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.Chasing 136 for a 3-0 sweep, Rohit clobbered Sri Lanka spinner Akila Dananjaya for a massive six for his 65th in international cricket in 2017 before falling for a 20-ball 27 to Dasun Shanaka.In the third over, the Lankan offie Dananjaya bowled a delivery outside off and Rohit stepped down the track to send the ball sailing over long off boundary for a maximum.Rohit finished with 65 international sixes in a calendar year bettering South African AB de Villiers’ tally of 63 which he had achieved the feat in 2015. Chris Gayle had hit 59 in 2012.In the second match of the series at Indore, Rohit scored his second T20I century off just 35 balls for the joint-fastest hundred in T20Is. He equaled the record of David Miller, who achieved the feat against Bangladesh at Potchefstroom in October 2017.The Mumbai dasher brought up his second T20 ton on the 12th over of the bowling off Angelo Mathews with a boundary.His whirlwind of an innings ended when he fell for 118 off just 43 balls to Dushmantha Chameera in the 12th over. This was the fastest hundred by an Indian batsman in the format. The previous one was held by KL Rahul off 46 balls against West Indies in 2016 at Lauderhill.Earlier during the ODI series against the same opponents, he scored a historic third double hundred as India continued to be ruthless against Sri Lanka in the second of the three-match series vs Sri Lanka in Mohali.advertisementRohit was the only man to score more than one double hundred in ODIs.
