As media companies continue to expand, offering customers and advertising clients more options to buy and sell wares, the collection of consumer data grows as well. To harness this data across its portfolio of products, enthusiast publisher Source Interlink Media created an initiative called Business Intelligence. This division, which exists in the Media and Sales & Logistics divisions at SIM, was launched to offer advertisers a holistic view of their target consumers’ interests and buying habits, by better integrating various data sources in-house for more strategic monetization of consumer-based data.John Marriott, senior vice president and general manager of Motor Trend Auto Shows, is now heading up the initiative as Business Intelligence’s senior vice president. His duties with Motor Trend Auto Shows will remain the same as he takes on the role of working with the Business Intelligence teams. Marriott says this is an opportunity borne of Source’s ability to work with consumers over an extended cycle of interest growth and product purchasing, “We’re trying to latch together all that data about those touch points, to track people as they move through the purchase funnel, in order to compare the behaviors between our customers and start to spot emerging trends, rather than seeing things that happened.” For Marriott, the end goal is directly tied to the advertisers currently working with SIM, “We want to begin to be at a position to see things as they happen, and eventually be able to employ some predictive modeling that will enable us to look forward and to spot things, which we can then present to the manufacturers.”Working with chief technology officer Raghu Bala, Marriott will put together a team of data mining staffers, database developers and statisticians. He says his first staffer is set to start next week, and the team will continue to grow over time.“What I’m excited about is getting to the point where we can really start applying statistical analysis on this vast amount of data, so we can start predicting and seeing those predictions come true, both for our internal staff and our advertisers,” Marriott says. “If we can help them better understand what their customers are saying about their products, how they’re viewing them and comparing them to other products, I think that’s going to generate a lot of value.”

WILMINGTON, MA — For the fifth straight year, The Kennek Foundation will hold a motorcycle ride to benefit first responders and the children they serve.Please join the fun on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at the Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road) in Wilmington. Registration (with free coffee and donuts) will begin at 10:00am with kickstands up at 11:00. Lunch will be served after the completion of the ride. As in past years, the suggested donation is $20 per rider and $10 per passenger.The ride is sponsored once again by Marblehead Opticians. The Lister Insurance Agency donated the commemorative 2019 “Trouble the Dog Toy Ride” patch, which is available for a suggested $5.00 donation. Violin is considered one of the most noble percussion instruments that has the capability to produce music of any genre ranging from classical to western to fusion. The Carnatic music Violin arangetram of Anandh Kalyanaraman and Shivapriya Dayal was held on January 9 at the Sri Sathya Sai auditorium in the national Capital. They have been training for five years under the tutelage of Guru Kalaimamani V.S.K. Chakrapani, who was a top grade artist of All India Radio. He has been performing, teaching and promoting carnatic music for the past five decades. Dr Vageesh, retired Deputy Director General of All India Radio, in his speech complimented the efforts of the children. Padma Shri Guru Geeta Chandran spoke of the importance of music training in our lives.The arangetram commenced with a varnam in raga arabhi, a composition of Tiger Varadachari, followed by a Muthuswami Dikshitar’s composition vathapi ganapathim in raga hamsadhwani. The main piece played by the children was a kriti by Tyagaraja – rama ninnu nammina – in raga mohanam, which they started with an alapana. The percussion accompaniments came together to perform what is called the ‘taniyavartanam’. ‘taniyavartanam’. They concluded with a thillana in raga dhanasree composed by the Maharaja of Travancore – Swathithirunal.The musicians included Anandh Kalyanaraman, class 9 student of D.A.V. School, Vasant Kunj and Shivapriya Dayal, a student of class 8 of Shriram School, Aravali, Gurgaon, who apart from being great musicians are also academic enthusiasts, performing very well at school.The children were ably supported by accompanying artists – Shri Padmanabhan on Mridangam, Shri Harinarayanan on Ghatam and Shri Ravikiran on Morsing.
