Austin qualified six men and three women while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will send one male competitor and five women. Houston Baptist, UIW and Lamar each qualified a lone male athlete and will send a pair of individual women each. NSU’s Davis, UCA’s Stone Tabbed Southland Baseball Players of the Week

Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school’s sports information director. Voting for one’s own athlete is not permitted. To earn honorable mention, a student-athlete must appear on 25 percent of ballots. Davis hit safely in all four of the Demons’ contests last week, including three multi-hit games in a series win over Abilene Christian. He finished 8-for-16 (.500) with five RBI at the plate as NSU dropped an extra-inning tilt against Southern and took two out of three from the Wildcats. The Demons (11-4, 2-1 SLC) play all four games this week on the road with a Tuesday night matchup with Grambling at 6 p.m. followed by a three-game weekend slate against New Orleans. Stone (3-1) tossed the program’s third no-hitter to open the weekend series with Southeastern Louisiana with a 2-0 win. The junior struck out a career-high 13 batters, opposite just one walk. The Bears sealed the series victory with a 2-1 triumph on Saturday but missed out on sweeping the Lions on Sunday. UCA (7-8, 2-1 SLC) travels to Thibodaux, La., for a three-game series with Nicholls, beginning with a 6 p.m. first pitch on Friday evening. Pitcher of the Week – Gavin Stone, Central Arkansas – Junior – Starting Pitcher – Lake City, Ark.Stone went the distance on just 112 pitches, including 85 strikes, and recorded just the third no-hitter in program history in a series-opening win over SLU. He retired the side in order through each of the first five innings and struck out the side in the third inning. After surrendering a leadoff walk in the fifth, Stone retired the final 14 batters of the game, fanning eight Lions’ batters down the stretch. He struck out eight of SLU’s nine starters at least once. Hitter of the Week – Peyton Davis, Northwestern State – Junior – First Baseman – Bossier City, La.After tallying an RBI in the loss to Southern, Davis hit 7-for-12 (.583) across three games against ACU, including a pair of multi-RBI games.
